We knew right from the start that this third Sea of Lies game would keep us glued to our seats. Firstly, Sea of Lies: Burning Coast has a really captivating storyline. Despite the science-gone-wrong cliché, Eipix delivered the story in such an engaging way that basically balances out the tiresome plotline. The characters in Burning Coast are probably some of the characters with the richest personalities we have came across from the developer; plus, the dialogs are well-written and the voice overs are on point.
Presentation wise, Eipix has gotten it right in every way possible. The graphics look absolutely fabulous on our screen, each scene is beautifully drawn with perfect colors, shades and depths. The music and background tracks are appropriate, and as all developers should take notes, they actually add suspense to the already-exciting game.
What we found considerably disappointing is the lack of challenge. It seems like lately, Eipix has made things simpler. Apart from the usual features, Sea of Lies: Burning Coast has no extra special features. This also leads to an easier gameplay and shorter length than what we had expected from the game.
Regardless of that, we thoroughly enjoyed the mixture hidden object scenes and puzzles in the game. The hidden object scenes come with variety and a Match-3 option; at the same time, the puzzles are well integrated into the storyline and relatively unique.
In spite of the slightly short 3 and a half hour length, we recommend that Collector’s Edition over the Standard Edition. The reason behind this is the strong Extra materials this game included; from great bonus chapter and well-hidden collectibles to the standard gallery items, achievements and a delightful Making Of clip.
