At this point, Playcademy can probably be crowned the king of premium Match 3 games and they are back with another new title! SpelunKing: The Mine Match takes you on an exploration underground as you try to find your grandpa’s lost items and gemstones in order to help rebuild the town of Farnsbury.
In the veins of the studio’s previous Match 3 titles (Runefall, MatchVentures, and Silver Tale), SpelunKing is no ordinary Match 3 game, but a combination of different genres. Throughout the game’s 90 creative levels, you get to dig your way to the bottom of the mines while searching for hidden treasures and gems. The Match 3 board moves in the direction of your match, which adds to the challenge of the game. The game also features an array of items to search and collect along the way, these items can be used to complete interesting tasks within the level. Thus, SpelunKing: The Mine Match should definitely satisfy hardcore Match 3 fans who crave some serious complexity or strategic-planning.
To go with the mining theme of the game, SpelunKing: The Mine Match also has another clever feature – the oil lamp. The lamp slowly loses its light over time and will make the Match 3 grows darker. This can be fixed by matching the tiles in the sequence shown at the top of the screen and refuel the lamp. While this is a minor feature in the grand scheme of the gameplay, little touches like these really take the game above its peers.
Not only that, but SpelunKing: The Mine Match also includes other areas besides the mine. Resources that are collected during the Match 3 levels can be used to create power-ups and purchase upgrades in the Shop, the Quarry, the Blacksmith, the Tavern, and the Alchemist. This variety in the gameplay, along with clean graphics and charming music, makes SpelunKing: The Mine Match an incredibly addicting and entertaining ride with high replay value.
