The famous League of Light series is back with a twist! The city of Oaksmor is overwhelmed with killer plants that are spreading their poisonous spores like wildfire, in The Little Shop of Horrors’ fashion. The League of Light has sent you, one of their most capable agents, to tackle this dangerous task. Do you have what it takes to find the real culprit and save the city?
Recently, the hidden object adventure scene has seen some interesting step changes, a return to form if you will. With the resurgence in popularity of pure hidden object games and major HOPA franchises spinning off retro hidden object installments (think Mystery Case Files: Rewind), maybe going back to its roots is the way forward for the slow-moving hidden object genre. League of Light: Growing Threat skillfully combines traditional hidden object scenes with modern technology and just enough storyline to prove that hidden object scenes do not have to be so boring.
Unlike its predecessors or Mariaglorum’s previous works, League of Light: Growing Threat is less of an adventure game and more of a hidden object game. While the storyline here is strong enough to inject the game with a sense of purpose and plenty of suspense, and there are still hints of the familiar HOPA mechanics sprinkled here and there, the game spends most of its time going through hidden object scenes.
However, adventure lovers will still want to check this one out since all of the hidden object scenes are extremely creative. Not only are they highly interactive, but they are also cleverly integrated with fun and oftentimes challenging puzzles. Once completed, these hidden object scenes also lead to a development in the storyline. It is not an easy task to connect multiple standalone hidden object scenes into one cohesive overarching storyline, but League of Light: Growing Threat does that brilliantly.
One thing that remains in this new League of Light sequel is the excellent sights and sounds. The dark fantasy visuals are breathtaking, with flawless artwork, animations, and cutscenes. Moreover, all the audio components are impressive and help make the game a captivating experience throughout.
League of Light: Growing Threat is a Collector’s Edition offering, which means it comes with a handful of bonuses. This includes a long bonus chapter that tells a prequel storyline and opens up 20 new hidden object scenes, a strategy guide, wallpapers, concept art, soundtracks, videos, achievements, collectibles, and a jigsaw puzzle.
